Inspiration for This Work

A collection of found objects form the basis for paintings which comment on the waste land of mass produced refuse, the end product of over consumption.

Some paintings in the series arrange the pieces as if floating past in space as though they are passing through our hands. This painting holds the accumulation still and focuses on the relationships between individual items, giving them each importance and value.

Student Biography

For as long as I can remember, I have made things and my head has been littered with the possibility of projects and objects. The last few years have given me the opportunity to focus on developing and realising concepts through painting and drawing.

I am interested in exploring works which examine aspects of ordinary life including accumulated mass-produced, man-made lost and found objects depicted in colour relationships, and also the nature of shared experience.

Captured random images of large-scale events are the basis for examining the unwitting exchange of ephemeral and unquantifiable amounts of heat, breath, moisture and smell. These uncontrollable transgressions permeate personal space and are a source of inspiration.

The rendering of consumerism through actual collected found objects, together with the intangible chaos and order of communal events are dichotomous facets of everyday life. I envisage continued analysis of these intriguing aspects as sources for the development of my practice.
