Inspiration for This Work
What I love about documentary filmmaking is the opportunity that you have to go somewhere, or inside something, new and then to tell a story about what you see, to be able to share what you have just discovered with a new audience.
This documentary chronicles the staging of a student theatre production from beginning to end, giving an inside look at all the drama, uncertainty and excitement that threatens to stop — or not — ‘The Blood of Kings’ from coming into being.
Student Biography
I see myself as an artist, a designer and particularly a problem solver, with three main areas of practice: in web and interactive media, photomedia and digital video.
I was born in Hong Kong in 1985, where I spent my early childhood years, before moving to Sydney with my family in 1993. I have since steadily developed an interest in digital media, especially after being drawn to the new and exciting thing that was ‘the web’ in 1997 and also following my father’s interest in photography.
For me, interactive media is primarily about human interaction and designing user experiences that are engaging, yet highly functional and efficient at communicating. Even though I am adept at and still enjoy the technical and aesthetic sides of producing websites, I find it most challenging just trying to understand how people think. I can then design information architecture and rewarding experiences for visitors with this in mind.
In photomedia and digital video, I enjoy the opportunity to capture the world as I see i while sharing and observing everyone’s varying perspectives. I enjoy making documentary films, where I can document reality through stories that need to be told. I am also fascinated with colour and photograph a great deal of landscapes and architecture.
Hopefully the future will allow me to keep my options open with different projects in my areas of practice, including working internationally.
