Student Biography

When were you born?

I was born on 20th April 1985 in Guangzhou, China.

What is your background?

My family background is Chinese. I migrated to Sydney Australia when I was 5 years old. I consider myself as Australian-Chinese.

What inspired you to become an artist or designer?

The ability to convey the infusions of mind and body, fabric and water and stitch to stain have all been integral concepts within my work.

Who would you like to work in collaboration with or create something for?

It would be the greatest experience to work with textile artists or fabric designers who are just as passionate in surface design as myself.

How has your work evolved over the past 3 years?

My work raises awareness about "Emotional Art"; art as a therapeutic development and how this can reflect our everyday life.

How can art and design contribute to society?

Art and design can create new methodoligies of seeing and re-seeing the familiar. This will alter our visual and tactile experiences within our world.

Where would you like to work after university?

I would like to pursue a career in fabric design and/or textile design to further understand and develop my artistic and material practice.
