Inspiration for This Work

My work focuses on my daily routine of commuting. This body of work focuses on my observations of the increased presence of ticket inspectors and police on public transport.

When were you born?

20th October 1983.

What is your background?

I was born in Newcastle and have lived there my whole life.

What inspired you to become an artist or designer?

I don't know exactly what inspired me to become an artist. I have always just enjoyed being surrounded by art. As a child I was always drawing the environment and objects that were around me.

Who would you like to work in collaboration with or create something for?

I'd love to collaborate with Jeffrey Smart or Wendy Sharpe.

How has your work evolved over the past 3 years?

My work has evolved from a direct representation of what I see, to simple line work, shapes and shadows. It has become a little more obscure and constructed.

How can art and design contribute to society?

Art allows people the freedom of expression to represent the world around them, and share this with others. Society is such a visual place that without art, life would be mundane.

Where would you like to work after university?

After University I would love to do some travelling.
