Student Biography

When were you born?

10th August, 1986 in Sydney, Australia.

What is your background?

My mother is from Hong Kong and my father is from Singapore, but having been born and brought up in Australia I consider myself Australian.

What inspired you to become an artist or designer?

In 2003, I was given the opportunity to do a week of work experience at (the now closed) Disneytoon Animation Studio in Sydney. I went into it sceptical about the industry and left converted - adamant that I had found my occupational calling - to be an animator.

How has your work evolved over the past 3 years?

In the animation industry there is a tension between traditional 2D cell animation and 3D computer based animation.

Though I have always liked to draw (and my graduation piece is traditional animation), over the past 3 years I have pursued courses which have honed both my 2D and 3D animation skills.

Where would you like to work after university?

I am keen to work within the local animation industry and further abroad as I develop as an animator.
