Inspiration for This Work
Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino.
"Cities (like dreams) believe to be the work of the mind or of chance, but neither the one nor the other suffices to hold up its walls."
Student Biography
I was born in Genova in 1981, lived in Milano most of my life where in 2005 I graduated in Interior (Set and Exhibition) Design at the Politecnico di Milano.
I moved to Australia to satisfy a personal curiosity of how a young country is building its culture.
Sydney has been home for three years, and that curiosity has been teasing, poking and tickling me. Still does.
Cities as entities fascinate me. I recognize within myself Genova, Milano and Sydney. Probably for this reason my designs are orientated towards the public realm. Spaces of the people. Spaces of the city, spaces of relations. Material presences to get involved with.
I find myself indulging in day-dreaming with a certain constancy, they come to me by themselves and they then are born from me in the form of stories. I tell stories, describe situations.
To do this I believe analogue photography is the media that suits me best. It is a balanced mix of reality and fantasy, documentation and imaginary world.
