Inspiration for This Work

This work is an exploration in dealing with adaptation to transient space. By creating ones own space amongst a time and place of rapid change and movement. This is a place to focus on the now, as well as direct environment. This piece also inquires into the notion of the continual loop of creation and destruction of self, situations, and your surrounds.

Student Biography

As an artist, my work is primarily concerned with the way in which the body and mind are, or can be, connected or disconnected to the present. I come from a ceramic sculpture background and currently use performance, video and installation as a method of exploring concepts of time and our place amongst it. At COFA, I have moved from majoring in ceramics, to now graduating in sculpture/performance/installation. Although my work is solidly based within a conceptual realm, I possess a strong passion for the material clay, and intend to further my explorations with the material. For the moment I am enjoying the reinvigoration of the Sydney art community, although in the near future I intend to travel to both Europe and the Americas.
