Inspiration for This Work

This work was designed specifically for the wearer, and was an exploration of various facets of her body and character.

Student Biography

What is your background?

My family is Australian, with ultimate roots in Ireland and England. My parents and I frequently moved around both nationally and globally as I was growing up, and these eclectic and multicultural experiences are something I bring to my approach to design.

What inspired you to become an artist or designer?

I have always had an interest in creativity across numerous disciplines and focusing my studies in this area seemed a natural continuation of this inclination.

Who would you like to work in collaboration with or create something for?

I am interested in collaborating with designers for the creation of wearable objects in jewellery, fashion, theatre sets and costume, or alternately product and gift design and manufacture.

How has your work evolved over the past 3 years?

The last three years has given me the confidence to approach a whole range of projects from different disciplines with the ability to achieve a resolved result. My technical skills have advanced sufficiently to be able to communicate my concept through form in a finished manner. I have learned to enjoy doing projects outside my usual comfort zone as results are unpredictable and exciting.

Where would you like to work after university?

I am mostly interested in working for a theatre company doing both costume and set design. However I could also see myself working in accessories and jewellery design and production. I am also interested in home wares and gift design.
