Inspiration for This Work

The dress was a simple design that was inspired by the vibrant fabric, enhanced by the red silk trimming. Made for summer, the pattern was drafted using a mannequin.

The skirt was an alteration to a pair of scout shorts. I experimented with printing creating a print that contrasted the original garment by its urban feel and subject matter.

Student Biography

The appeal of design is that the ideals of design are inclusive of both aesthetics and function. Creations are seen as a whole, so that it is so important to balance the see-saw of how something works, with how it looks. I am attracted to the logical way that we must consider the practicalities of our products, but satisfied by making aesthetics a necessity.

I include in my designs what I find most alluring in my environment, something simple and fresh, with the slightly unexpected, the surprise that we find in the shadows. I believe that these small details are vital to making things amazing.
