Inspiration for This Work

The Jungle Type was based on a running stream and the organnic and wild nature of the jungle. The original letters were created with ink then treated in Photoshop to give the curvaceous tappering at the top of each letter, mimicking a running stream.

The vine text reads "design is not a good idea". One of a set of three this one focuses on the idea that as designers we cannot control nature but must always design with consideration for it, never work against it.

Student Biography

The appeal of design is that the ideals of design are inclusive of both aesthetics and function. Creations are seen as a whole, so that it is so important to balance the see-saw of how something works, with how it looks. I am attracted to the logical way that we must consider the practicalities of our products, but satisfied by making aesthetics a necessity.

I include in my designs what I find most alluring in my environment, something simple and fresh, with the slightly unexpected, the surprise that we find in the shadows. I believe that these small details are vital to making things amazing.
