Student Biography

In my work I seek to articulate simple statements about beauty, truth and the fall of light. I want to investigate the merging of art and life and also the line that separates them. I see my practice blossoming into something that negotiates traditional technique and contemporary contexts. I think that all an artist can do is reflect a part of themselves in their work and it is this integrity that will ultimately communicate with the viewer. At present my practice has become an exploration of the facets of memory and family mythology from a semi-autobiographical perspective. These works comment on how stories are created, biases maintained and myths evolve within the familial context. There is a certain stillness to the work that is imparted by both the timeless nature of the compositions and the meditative process of my artistic practice.
