Inspiration for This Work
The interior/home environment is an interesting space, under attack as a result of the rapid development and integration of computer and technological hard and softwares. Infiltrating a space that was once sacred, ruled by binaries such as work/leisure, private/public. Now blurred, what do these spaces represent and how do we interact with them?
Student Biography
To create and learn, learn and create. That's what inspired me to commit to the arts.
My work explores ideas surrounding marginalisation and perception. Enthralled by the power of sound to transform (both physical and emotional) space, my recent work has focused on creating immersive sound environments which use visual aid as a secondary medium to contradict and/or reaffirm common ways of seeing, feeling and interacting with the world.
Sound is often viewed as a marginal medium within a contemporary fine art context.
Studying for my Masters has provided me with the opportunity to consolidate and push my art practice, looking at the many different ways and mediums in which one main idea (perception and identity) can manifest and be manipulated.
Art often allows for a reinterpretation of current and/or long-standing issues in a fresh and interesting way, I like the challenge of researching and reinterpreting.
