Inspiration for This Work

The extension of ideas explored in the previous work - Centennial Park. This image was taken from a bike track next to the canal between Leichhardt and Haberfield at a similar time of the morning (before dawn), and (obviously early rising) workers, not 50 metres away, were noisily travelling along the main road to work.

Student Biography

I was born in Sydney in 1987, to loving, but completely un-creative parents. A love of drawing throughout my childhood (although remarkably unable to paint convincingly until year 10) saw me studying Visual arts in high school and eventually led to me choosing a Bachelor of Fine Arts at COFA as my first and only option after the HSC.

I have a love for painting portraits, although my most recent work explores the subject of nature, trees, and more specifically deserted landscapes.

My work has improved quite dramatically over the last three years. Large projects are less intimidating. I have a better understanding of oil-paint use. I will continue my creative pursuits (including drawing, painting and work with sound media) after university in an attempt to further develop my skills as an artist, and I plan on exhibiting as soon as I am able to.
