Student Biography

When were you born?

Born May 30th, 1987.

What is your background?

I grew up in South Australia, Far North Queensland, and Sydney. This gave me a diverse experience of Australian culture.

What inspired you to become an artist or designer?

I originally started a BFA degree with the intention of majoring in painting. However, after doing a short course in photography I had no doubts about what I wanted to do.

Who would you like to work in collaboration with or create something for?

I hope to collaborate with other artists and hold group exhibitions, but also I aim to work with artist run gallery spaces to achieve my first solo exhibition next year.

How has your work evolved over the past 3 years?

Through photography, I explore my relationship with current surroundings. I explore object making and how sculpture can communicate with an adjacent image(s).

How can art and design contribute to society?

I hope to capture compelling and conceptually intriguing images that act a mechanism for the viewer to question current ideas in society.

Where would you like to work after university?

The field of fashion photography has become of great interest to me, as I feel I could build more on my technical skills, and further improve my practice.
