Inspiration for This Work

All the stories I had read in my life. The way it's told, the plot and the scenes, and most importantly, the climax. The story is written in novel and script-type conversational style, I was experimenting with the combination of these two.

Student Biography

When were you born?

28th January 1986.

What is your background?

Jakarta, Indonesia. I'm the second child of three siblings, and my Great Grandfather was a migrant from China. Chinese tradition remains strong in the family, but I learned to adopt many local beliefs too in Indonesia.

What inspired you to become an artist or designer?

As a teenager, I loved (and still do) Japanese anime and manga, and I have now fallen in love with the culture too. Japanese culture is a big source of inspiration for me, from Zen style to ukiyo-e. In addition, being exposed to many great stories also inspired me to become a writer.

How has your work evolved over the past 3 years?

There's a definite change in design style and heaps more concepts put into my work. Concepts and ideas come from personal experience and each have their own story to tell, which is very interesting.

How can art and design contribute to society?

What you see printed on billboard or broadcasted on TV has effected you in some way, and this is the power of media. Contribution to the society depends on how the media is used.

Where would you like to work after university?

In advertising or broadcasting company.
