Student Biography

Hello, my name is Grace and I am an artist first, an assistant gallery manager at New View Gallery second, an organiser at a queerspace (22 Enmore Rd) called New Q third, and a coffee maker last. I was born in Brisbane and moved to Annandale when I was one, there we stayed until I rashly decided to move out during my HSC. Since then I haven't managed to live more than 3 or so suburbs from Annandale anyway. I currently live above New View in Newtown.

Art is like a compulsion for me, people often ask why do I bother painting? And I ask, how do I stop? So when they develop patches and gum for it I expect I will throw away my brushes and take up accounting.

I'm currently planning to start some collaborative work with a sculptor friend Will Coles, I have also been experimenting with street art like paste-ups and stencils. I enjoy working with fabric as well, and have recently been commissioned to make a series of bean bags in the vein of my 2006 Jean Benet Ramsay one (now sold).

My time at COFA has been wonderful, so wonderful I plan to come back next year and do Honours.
