Inspiration for This Work

My Monsties are made from screenprinted fabrics and there were originally 63 made in the series. They draw their inspiration from those quirky, bizarre, snap-shot memories one keeps from childhood - memories that have no peripheral significance, but that all draw together to make up your disjointed childhood recollections.

Student Biography

I'm a 21 year old printmaker and have a primary focus in screen printing. I love and enjoy how as a printmaker my process is broken down into thoughtful, methodical stages. This year I have explored how this practice can be juxtaposed with the naive spontaneity of childhood drawings, and also use the motif of colour-by-numbers to deal with this idea of artistic process while also critiquing the system's restrictive nature. I have also moved into creating 3D printed works through sewing with textiles I have screen printed.
