Student Biography

I had studied two years of the Bachelor of Design (Fashion and Textiles) at UTS, before commencing the Bachelor of Design/Art Education course at COFA. Although I have been able to extend my skills into other areas like Ceramics, Object and Computing Design, my design practice has mainly centred around textiles.

One particular interest within textiles that has developed in the past 2 years has been basketry. Inspired by indigenous basketry, I coil weave discarded fabrics and other mediums into basket and sculptural forms. In December '06, I made a large basket for the Peats Ridge (Sustainable Arts & Music) festival. More recently, my baskets have been exhibited in the 'Pom Poms and Playthings' exhibition at the Gaffa Gallery in Surry Hills (September '07). Fabric baskets will also be exhibited at the Balmain Art & Craft Show in November '07.
