Inspiration for This Work

Are we living our truth, our dream or are we merely caught in a trance of social conditioning? Such questions are part of this observational body of work, which documents the temporal and mental conditioning and social interactions of subjects occupying specific environments.

The video is part of a photographic series of images entitled Environmental Portraits 'Group-Think' (Individual pressure to be like everyone else).

Student Biography

When were you born?

Born Sydney, Australia.

What is your background?

Australian/Italian. Completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts UNSW College of Fine Arts. 1989.Completed Master of Art Photo Media UNSW College of Fine Arts 2007.

Currently teaching at TAFE NSW, 2007.

What inspired you to become an artist or designer?

Art has always been my inspiration. (Life).

At a young age it started with drawing and painting everything around me; the intricate details of life.

Now I use a camera.

Who would you like to work in collaboration with or create something for?

I'd like to work with many inspirational people, with vision that express (psychological) human nature and environments.

How has your work evolved over the past 3 years?

The work is constantly evolving, leading me into the next body of work. Previously working in B/W teaching me the tonality of life. Currently working with colour illustrating the present moment. Video shows me to appreciate the stillness.

How can art and design contribute to society?

Without art and design there is no society. It is one of our fundamental elements of our core being.

Where would you like to work after university?

Continue to teach photography and producing images.
