Inspiration for This Work

I have explored three-dimensional form and textile soft sculptures. This involved the formation and renovation of a two-dimensional fabric plane into a three-dimensional sculpture. The concept of ‘transit’ has been explored through the deconstruction and reworking of the objects: 2D to 3D and flat to textural. The process of making these objects has become the transition: a process driven project. There becomes a strong transitional phase between the objects- from a flat blanket to sculptures that seem to become bodified.

Student Biography

When were you born?

22nd May, 1986.

What inspired you to become an artist or designer?

The art world is my world- it’s what I know. The idea of creating and being able to art-make is such an exciting profession. The opportunity to self-express through an artistic outlet is absolutely brilliant! Who wouldn’t want to be an artist?

How has your work evolved over the past 3 years?

Originally trained as a painter/drawer, I branched out to the medium of textile art which gave me opportunity to experiment and create in a more innovative manner. My work has developed more conceptually- I respond to ideas and issues that are important to me through the medium of textiles.

Where would you like to work after university?

I want to study more and develop further as an artist. Travel, teach, experience more of the art world and its endless opportunities.
