Student Biography

When were you born?

I was born on the 29th of February 1984, which means I have my birthday once every 4 years.

What is your background?

I was born in Shanghai, the fastest growing city in China, same as my parents, but my little brother was born in Australia 14 years ago.

What inspired you to become an artist or designer?

It was Calvin Klein's signature black and white advertisements that inspired me. I want to produce work that is recognized worldwide. I want to produce an advertising campaigns that's as successful as CK.

Who would you like to work in collaboration with or create something for?

I would love to work with Chanel and/or Calvin Klein. It would be truly amazing to be able to create an advertising campaign for one of their products. I would be honoured to work with or for them.

How has your work evolved over the past 3 years?

In my past work I liked using a lot of designs and put everything together, where as now I enjoy simplicity. Like the old saying "less is more". A simple image can sometimes say so much.

How can art and design contribute to society?

Art has been part of society for millennia, like the work by Da Vinci "the last supper" has been a part of history. Design is the art of the 21st century and our future.

Where would you like to work after university?

After I graduate I would like to work for an advertising and marketing company.
