Inspiration for This Work

This is one piece from a series of three vessels. The series was designed to hold water for drinking, and was inspired by my childhood memory of sipping water from Nasturtiam leaves after a fall of rain or sprinkle from the hose.

Student Biography

I was born in Sydney, Paddington actually, however I grew up in Launceston in Tasmania's north. I have to admit I was a typical Tasmanian teenager who just wanted to move to "the mainland", which I eventually did in 2004 to study a Bachelor of Design with the College of Fine Arts, majoring in jewellery and environments.

Since returning to Sydney I have come to appreciate the value and influences of my childhood in Tassie. Growing up, my parents would take my brother, sister and I on adventures to some of the most pristine, inspirational places and they always encouraged an element of creativity in the way we looked at things.

I find that I often look to the natural environment to form ideas and concepts for my designs as well as drawing upon past memories and experiences gained from all facets of life such as travel, people, stories, music...
