Inspiration for This Work

This installation is a self-portrait reflecting on a personal journey. It consists of a series of cocooned forms, and winged creatures that emerge from them. The shapes, colours, textures and materials were inspired by autumn, organic growths and discarded cocoons. It appears raw and vulnerable when placed within nature and exposed to the elements.

Student Biography

Bronwyn was born in Sydney and grew up with her family on a property in Dural. It was her passion to create beautiful things that drove her to become a designer. She has always been inspired by nature around her, and uses prints and textiles to recreate these organic forms. Her work has evolved over the past few years through an exposure to European design after travelling there in 2006. This also included an opportunity to study design on exchange in the Netherlands, which has broadened her technical and conceptual skills. Bronwyn wants to use her designs to contribute to a positive and beautiful future for society. She would love to work as a textile or costume designer, specialising in surface treatment.
