Inspiration for This Work

Created as a part of my series on the left and right brain theories throughout history, I tried to create an image reflecting all that was said to be 'left-brained'. I took sequential, analytical, logical, rational, structural, formalised and linear qualities and found an image that would best portray these characteristics.

Student Biography

When were you born?

I was born in Sydney in 1987.

What is your background?

My Australian family history reaches back to the convicts. Therefore our home base is here in Australia, however there are Sindens all over the world.

What inspired you to become an artist or designer?

My Grandmother being an artist meant art has always been an element in our family. Also, growing up in Indonesia exposed me to diverse cultural art.

Who would you like to work in collaboration with or create something for?

I have always wanted to illustrate a children’s book. Perhaps working with Jane Tanner who illustrated ‘Drac and the Gremlin’ by Allan Baillie.

How has your work evolved over the past 3 years?

My work has evolved into a more intuitive, expressive style. I am continuously developing within my practice, becoming more inventive and experimental

How can art and design contribute to society?

Art Therapy allows healing within the community through the use of self-expression and visual communication. It can be used amongst varied cultures and age groups.

Where would you like to work after university?

My long-term plan is to become an Art Therapist. I would love to work in community centres or open my own therapy clinic.
