Student Biography
I was born on the mid North Coast in the small coastal town of Repton. I grew up in the nearby towns of Urunga and Nambucca heads. My Mother is an artist and she created opportunities from a young age to explore various methods of art making from calligraphy, Japanese ink brush painting, wood carving, paper making, oil pastels and dry drawing media.A strong interest in the quality of the drawn mark persists throughout my practice today. This initial basis in drawing has extended to become an integral aspect of my paintings. At present I am investigating the urban landscape as one which is under constant construction. I am interested in the industrial and the connection between the way we build the environment around us and the way in which we can construct an image of this space within the medium of drawing and painting. I build up my images through a process of drawing, abstracted colour layering, glazing and redrawing.
