Inspiration for This Work

The idea of creating something beautiful and luxurious from recycled and over-looked materials sparked this project. The range transforms old pages and copper pots into wearables for a contemporary audience.

Student Biography

When were you born?

I was born into a world of over-the-top-fashion, Flashdance and Michael Jackson. The year was 1984.

What inspired you to become an artist or designer?

I had so many ideas in my head that I wanted to make come to life. The chance to share all of these with as many people as possible was also a clincher for me.

Who would you like to work in collaboration with or create something for?

Although impossible now, working with Florence Broadhurst would be incredible. The bold prints, intense colours and detailed patterns are so inspiring. Phillip Treacy would also be amazing - his work has such conceptual strength and are simply breathtaking!

How has your work evolved over the past 3 years?

I have become much more experimental with the development and exectution of my designs. My work ranges from earthy tones and textures to bold colours and prints. Recently, I have focused on re-use and how this impacts design.

How can art and design contribute to society?

Art and design has this amazing ability to connect people from such different backgrounds. Audiences bring different values and interpretaions to designs allowing pieces to continually evolve.

Where would you like to work after university?

I want to be part of a studio that believes in honest work and realises the strength in strong conceptual design. A mix of graphics, jewellery and textils would be incredibly ideal!
