Student Biography

When were you born?

New years day 1984.

What is your background?

Born and bred in Sydney, with an inkling of a European background. (Dad is Czech and Mum is German).

What inspired you to become an artist or designer?

In all seriousness I blame pre-school and the excessive time allocated to finger painting.

How has your work evolved over the past 3 years?

I have stopped trying to figure out the borders between art and design, and instead am rather chuffed by the flirtatious relationship between the two. I think deep down they really like each other but are sometimes to shy to show it…

How can art and design contribute to society?

Art and design have potentially amazing capabilities to contribute to society. When used well they are powerful tools that can help communicate, solve, express, educate, provoke, reflect, inspire… the list goes on. That’s what is exciting.

Where would you like to work after university?

With good people, doing great work.
