Student Biography

When were you born?

9th April 1985.

What is your background?

I was born and raised in Sydney.

What inspired you to become an artist or designer?

My main drive to become a designer was the empowering possibility of changing the way people think about and engage with their environment.

How has your work evolved over the past 3 years?

I have realised that the borders between art and design are blurred and this has lead my practice into a more interesting, enriched area. Over the course of my degree, I have become intensely interested in sustainability and the possibilities that affords. My work has become more systemic, and integrated across a range of disciplines, notably: textiles, object, graphics and environments. My practice has also become increasingly inspired from found objects.

How can art and design contribute to society?

I believe art and design not only have the power to motivate people to think, but also to be excited and engaged in our environment. More poignantly, I think design has the ability, if implemented ethically, to make for a more equitable and sustainable society

Where would you like to work after university?

I have no idea what the future brings and that is kind of exciting and kind of scary.
