Student Biography

When were you born?

Sydney, 1980. Iron Monkey.

What is your background?

Australian, Irish, Welsh, Spanish, Eastern European and Gypsy.

A bandmaster, tailors, soldiers and teachers...

Alexis grew up in Sydney's inner west areas of Annandale, Petersham and Marrickville.

What inspired you to become an artist or designer?

Family, friends, neighbours, literature, film, work, bushwalking, comics, good guidance, and a touch of luck.

Who would you like to work in collaboration with or create something for?

Gnarls Barkley, Lynne Roberts-Goodwin, Museum of Contemporary Art, The Chasers, Sydney Theatre Company, local community, and the pub or RSL club on the corner.

How has your work evolved over the past 3 years?

Constantly, consistently and diasporically.

How can art and design contribute to society?

That is a question for society. Art is the grey between oppositional forces.

Where would you like to work after university?

In no particular order media arts, film, fashion, university and the reply to Query 4 answers the rest.
