Inspiration for This Work

This work was inspired by George Orwell’s novel Animal Farm. I was trying to recreate the scene where Major the pig delivers his famous speech. The evil shadow in the background was created from the artwork self-portrait’. All of these photos were taken at about 8 different locations of real farm animals and composited together in Photoshop. Many of the animals themselves are composites and the room is a computer generated composite.

What inspired you to become an artist or designer?

I have always been interested in both art and computing. A Bachelor of Digital Media gave me the opportunity to study art and design through the practices of computing.

How has your work evolved over the past 3 years?

My work has moved away from a paint and easel context and towards the fields of computer generated and photo-manipulated images. Also, my work heavily incorporates 3D.

How can art and design contribute to society?

Art and technology are some of the primary platforms through which we view our world. Hence art and design can contribute many different ways of communicating and seeing the world.

Where would you like to work after university?

My aim is to work collaboratively with other artists in the fields of 3D multimedia for game development. I have also started my own internet business, Pegasus Digital Media.
