Inspiration for This Work

I was approach by an employee of the production company, Freehand, to design the proposals for upcoming television programs.

Classy late night chat shows, music and drinks provided the basis from which to work.

Student Biography

What is your background?

I am the third generation Australian in my family. I am also from a Jewish background.

What inspired you to become an artist or designer?

I don't think it was a particular design or designer, and it most definitely didn't come from my family, as I am the only "creative" one.

I think initially there was really nothing else that even remotely interested me, so the choice to pursue design was quite simple. I was just lucky to figure that out at a relatively young age, and to fall absolutely in love with it after tertiary study.

Who would you like to work in collaboration with or create something for?

I've always been a big fan of highly conceptual and self directed design - I would therefore be interested in working with companies such as Inkahoots. As my personal design philosophy differs from many, where I don't always see the need for a client or a problem in order to design, I would be interested in working collaboratively to really challenge what design is and what it can do.

How has your work evolved over the past 3 years?

I think confidence has played a huge role in the growth and development of my work. Initially, I suppose I didn't really know what to do and just expected everything to be perfect the first time. But over the years, you learn through trial and error and experimentation that that's just not possible. I feel that now I have a particular style, where my work borders on raw-ness and delicacy.

Where would you like to work after university?

I've always been very interested in typography and linguistics, and just recently delved into book design for an assignment. I found it incredibly interesting and stimulating to explore how the collaboration of type, paper stock and book formation can communicate written text much more explicitly. I would therefore be interested in working with innovative book design.
