Student Biography

When were you born?

Sydney, Australia.

What is your background?

My family background is Anglo- European, which includes English, Irish and German.

What inspired you to become an artist or designer?

The ability to explore ideas exponentially in a non-conventional way.

Who would you like to work in collaboration with or create something for?

I would consider collaboration with fellow abstract painters in relation to community projects or for a particular exhibition. I am also very interested in interdisciplinary projects that involve artists, designers and architects, as my practice involves interactions with both design and architecture.

How has your work evolved over the past 3 years?

Exposure to different lecturers whose practice involves abstraction has given me different positions and perspectives from which to view my own work. Also research and mentoring from the course has allowed me to build further on the conceptual, material and professional quality of my work.

How can art and design contribute to society?

It creates a platform to share and become aware of less mainstream ideas. It allows for a particular perspective on contemporary issues in a way that provokes people to think about the world they live in, while also providing an appreciation of beauty and pleasure of the visual medium.

Where would you like to work after university?

I would like to work in either a commercial contemporary art gallery or a gallery like the Museum of Contemporary Art.
