Student Biography

When were you born?

I was born on the 4th of May 1984 in Yokohama City Japan.

What is your background?

My background is Japanese. With only my parents migrating with me to Australia, all of my family live in Japan and Peru. My background and my upbringing in Sydney are both of value to my work as the cultures reside within my creative process.

What inspired you to become an artist or designer?

Using creativity as a basis of communication is the most rewarding and challenging task which I hope to accomplish and work with every day of my life.

Living in a world of design and art is living in a world of colour, imagination and hope for a sustainable future. I can not imagine living in a world without colour, creativity and prosperity.

Who would you like to work in collaboration with or create something for?

Would like to create for anyone and everyone. Working along side people who believe in their work and have a passionate drive towards design are the people who I'd like to work beside.

How has your work evolved over the past 3 years?

In the last 3 years I have worked with various clients and with a number of briefs. My work as a designer has seen my designs evolve from simple typography layouts to 9 page graphic spread menus for Gari Restaurant Bondi.

I am currently working on a spatial design for Gari Restaurant for my final year project.

How can art and design contribute to society?

Art and design tells the story of time and place. Design contributes to society as it redefines the social changes through the context of graphics, shapes and architectural volume.

Where would you like to work after university?

I am keen to work anywhere.

My interests reside with environments and graphics, thus I am most keen to work using these disciplines.
